Former Rainbow member and actress Kim Jae Kyung sat for an interview following the successful finale of her drama "The Devil Judge."
tvN's weekend primetime series "The Devil Judge" concluded last August 22 and was able to achieve its highest viewership ratings. Idol actress Kim Jae Kyung played Oh Jin Joo. Despite having a poor family background, Jin Joo pursued her dream of becoming an associate judge, where she worked with her idol judge Kang Yo Han (Ji Sung) and Kim Ga On (GOT7 Jinyoung).
Kim Jae Kyung Reveals How Her Harry Potter Cloak Helped Her During Audition for The Devil Judge
During the interview, the "Life on Mars" star shared the preparations she had for her role as Oh Jin Joo. In order to fully immerse herself in the character of a judge, Kim Jae Kyung looks for a judge in real life since she hasn't known anyone yet.
According to her, "I have never met a person who works as a judge. That's why while I was still in my audition, I kept on looking for someone who has professional experience as a judge, and fortunately I was able to find one."
"The Secret Life of My Secretary" actress confessed that she is a fan of "Harry Potter." "I actually have a cloak at home since I really like 'Harry Potter.' I wanted to attend my audition wearing something similar to judge's robes, so during my audition, I brought my 'Harry Potter' cloak with me and wore it."
Kim Jae Kyung wanted to fully immerse in the character of a judge, and so before going to her audition, she watched various interviews of judges and studied their work environment.
She continued, "I delivered all my lines while wearing my 'Harry Potter' cloak. Later, the director and writer were talking and asked me if I could take the cloak off, because they couldn't focus as it was making them laugh."

Kim Jae Kyung Enjoyed Working with Ji Sung and GOT7's Jinyoung
"The Devil Judge" is not a typical legal series. Kim Jae Kyung confessed that she is that type of person who can immediately move on from a role but with "The Devil Judge," it seems like she will be reminiscing about it for a long time.
When talking about working with her co-actors Ji Sung and GOT7's Jinyoung, Kim Jae Kyung shared that she had learned and enjoyed working with them. According to her, Ji Sung was really a senior who gave lots of advice, and she was able to move forward because of Ji Sung's guidance.
Kim Jae Kyung shared that there was a time where they had to film from cold to hot weather and it was tiring but Ji Sung brought a lot of snacks for her.
Meanwhile, among her co-stars, Kim Jae Kyung could relate more with GOT7's Jinyoung since both of them started as idols, and now they are fulfilling their careers as actors.
She said, "Jinyoung's experience is similar to my life journey and I can say that we have the same point of view when it comes to acting. We almost have the same worries on set but we were able to share advice to each other from the same point of view."
Kim Jae Kyung confessed that GOT7 Jinyoung was the life of the party, "Everytime Jinyoung got bored, he would sing or dance. Then automatically I end up doing the same, he really sets the mood on set."
