With the increasing numbers of K-drama fans all around the world, it is not impossible for K-contents to have various remakes from other countries that will give new flavors to its original versions.
K-drama What's Wrong with Secretary Kim Ranked No.1 to Have a Japanese Remake
In a recent survey in Japan, the 2018 romantic-comedy drama "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" topped the list of Korean dramas that want to have a Japanese remake.
The Japanese magazine ViVi released the results of a web survey that they made for the Japanese who are fond of watching Korean series. The said survey started from August 11 to August 16, and had 405 participants.
And as a result, Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young's "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" ranked first among the Korean dramas that the Japanese fans wanted to have a remake. The series received 52 votes from the participants.
Some Japanese who gave their votes shared that the reason why they chose the drama was that it greatly displayed the genres of comedy and melodrama, and they are also curious of who among the Japanese actresses would be playing the character of Park Min Young.
tvN's "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" received overwhelming love and support from fans and viewers in Asia. Plus, Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young's chemistry in the drama was enjoyed by many.
Park Seo Joon Has a Solid Fan Base in Japan
Meanwhile, the second K-drama that the Japanese want to have a remake is JTBC's "Itaewon Class," which aired in 2020. A series that is also based on a webtoon and starred the Korean heartthrob Park Seo Joon. This proved again the strong influence of Park Seo Joon in the Japanese market.
Another tvN drama made it to the list Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, and Yoo In Na's fantasy-romance series "Goblin" was voted as the third K-dramas that wanted to have a Japanese version. This 2016 drama has recorded the highest viewership rating of 20.5 percent during its broadcast in South Korea. It was also one of the famous Korean dramas among international fans for it showed a new kind of concept.

JTBC's Nevertheless Starring Song Kang and Han So Hee Made it to the List
Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin's romantic series "Crash Landing on You" ranked fourth. Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo's "Coffee Prince" at the fifth place, JTBC's "Nevertheless" starring Song Kang and Han So Hee ranked sixth and was the only 2021 drama that was included in the list.
Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun's "My Love from the Star" at the seventh spot. Jung Hae In and Son Ye Jin's "Something in the Rain" at the eighth spot.
Another Park Seo Joon's previous series made it to the top ten, it was MBC's "Kill Me, Heal Me," where he worked with actor Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum. "Start-Up," "My Name is Kim Sam Soon," and "Pinocchio" are all in tenth place.
However, since the public already had their votes, there are already possibilities that these Korean dramas might have their Japanese remakes soon.
