Netflix dropped a surprising announcement regarding the blockbuster movie "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure," starring Lee Kwang Soo, Kang Ha Neul and Han Hyo Joo.
Over its official Instagram, the streaming giant teased fans that the beloved sequel is coming to Netflix this March.
Netflix Unveiled 'Pirates 2' Release Date
Flaunting the official poster, the company revealed that "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" will "continue its voyage" on Netflix, confirming the release date on March 2.
Initially released on January 26, the "Pirates 2" kicked off with a promising start at the Korean box office.
Interestingly, after ten days since its debut, the historical adventure movie achieved its milestone.
According to reports, the highly anticipated sequel surpassed 1 million moviegoers on February 5, making it the first Korean film of 2022 to gain millions of moviegoers.
Moreover, "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" showed impressive achievement after it solidified its preposition in the box office despite the strict health restrictions and competition with the foreign market.
Is 'The Pirates 2' Worth Watching?
The period action-adventure comedy is the sequel to the 2014 "The Pirates" starring Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil.
As for the sequel, the follow-up movie is helmed by "The Book of Fish" director Kim Jung Hoon and penned by Chun Sung Il, who wrote "All of Us Are Dead," "L.U.C.A.: The Beginning" and the first installment of "The Pirates."
"The Pirates 2" follows the journey of fortune-seekers who travel the high seas in search of lost treasure.

Interestingly, "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" boasts an interesting cast lineup starting with Kang Ha Neul, Lee Kwang Soo, Han Hyo Joo, EXO Sehun, Chae Soo Bin and Kwon Sang Woo.
In the action-adventure movie, Kang Ha Neul took on the role of bandit leader Woo Moo Chi, who sees himself as Goryeo's top swordsman.

On the other hand, Han Hyo Joo, Hae Rang, the feisty ship owner and pirate captain, while Prince of Asia Lee Kwang Soo, portrayed Mak Yi, whose lifelong dream is to become a pirate king.
Viewers also lauded the performance of EXO Sehun as he took on the character of the group's skilled archer Han Goong.
Ahead of the film debut, "The Pirates 2" director spoke about the stellar cast lineup and challenges during the production. With the massive success of "The Pirates," Kim Jung Hoon gets honest and admitted that he felt "pressure" creating the much-awaited sequel.
Given the health restrictions, it is much more "difficult" to "overcome the success" of the 2014 film.
Meanwhile, he has all the good words to say towards the cast, expressing his gratitude, especially to Kang Ha Neul.
"The Pirates 2" director revealed that Moo Chi's character "needs a lot of diverse acting," and the Baeksang Arts winner perfectly portrayed the role.
In addition, he also praised lead stars Han Hyo Joo whom he described as "very professional" and "passionate" about her craft.
