IU's Acting Impresses 'Broker' Director Hirokazu Koreeda

Before the highly-anticipated premiere of the film "Broker" in June, director Hikorazu Koreeda shared genuine thoughts and compliments about the project and its cast.

Ahead of its release, "Broker" has already gained recognition both in Korea and abroad. The movie which stars Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, IU, Bae Doona, and Lee Joo Young, is slated to premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on its 75th anniversary this year.

One of its lead cast, Lee Ji Eun better known as IU is receiving praises for her amazing character transformation. Fans and viewers are looking forward to her role as a mother named So Young.

She abandoned her child in the "Baby Box" on a rainy day, and together with Sang Hyun and Dong Soo, they are ready to take risks to find the right person to raise the baby.

In particular, the "Hotel Del Luna" actress expressed her character in great detail. Every expression is on point, which immediately impresses Japanese director Koreeda. IU indeed aced her role as her calm performance grazed the video teaser. She perfectly synchronized with So Young's emotions.

According to Hirokazu Koreeda in a media interview, the director was satisfied with IU's mature performance, "I felt that I found the So Young that I pictured on my mind. The fact that it was a script I wrote, IU showed her expressions incredibly and in detail."

Furthermore, "Broker" will compete in the 75th Cannes International Film Festival.

Where To Watch IU Next

In 2021, IU made a hiatus in Korean dramas and focused on producing music more. But this year, the "My Mister" lead star is back with more projects. Aside from "Broker," the South Korean actress just concluded filming her first movie teaming up with Park Seo Joon in "Dream."

After many delays, the film is already on its way to theaters this coming 2023. Following her last series "Hotel Del Luna" in 2019. Lee Ji Eun will make her long-awaited small-screen return this 2022 with the drama "Money Game." She is expected to work with brilliant stars Park Jung Min, Ryu Jun Yeol, Park Hae Joon, and Bae Sung Woo.
