The upcoming drama film depicts the story of mothers who anonymously give up their babies through "baby boxers."

NMeanwhile, Sang Hyun and Dong Soo, played by Song Kang Ho and Kang Dong Won, are the "brokers" who help abandoned kids find their new homes.

Bae Doona and Lee Joo Young took on the role of detectives Soo Jin and Lee, who tracked down these brokers.

As for IU, she played a young mother who was forced to leave her newborn baby in one of the baby boxes due to an unfortunate circumstance.

As "Broker" gears up for its global release slated on June 8, viewers can't wait to watch how the drama will unfold.

'Broker' Made it to 75th Cannes Film Festiva

Interestingly, Hirokazu Koreeda's first-ever South Korean film was selected as one of the contenders at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

Hirokazu Koreeda Stunned at IU's Kdrama 'My Mister'

"Broker" will be a different kind of character from IU's previous projects since this will focus on a mother's emotional point of view.

Interestingly, the Japanese filmmaker revealed why he made the singer-actress as one of the lead stars and played the role of So Young.

Through a local media outlet, Hirokazu Koreeda explained that he was drawn to IU's 2018 Kdrama "My Mister," where she played a young part-time worker named Lee Ji An who is left alone to take care of her sick grandmother.

"I fell in love with actress Lee Ji-Eun after watching 'My Mister,'" he said, adding that he was surprised to see the "intensity of her acting throughout the entire drama."

"My Mister" was IU's next K-drama after the hit series "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" with Lee Joon Gi and Kang Ha Neil.

Interestingly, this is also one of the singer-actress' remarkable series as well as the 2019 fantasy Kdrama "Hotel del Luna."

Aside from the Hirokazu Koreeda-directed film, IU is also teaming up with Hallyu star Park Seo Joon for the upcoming sports-themed movie "Dream."
