Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung head to France to attend Cannes Film Festival 2022.

The award-winning actors and real-life friends are stars of the upcoming movie "Hunt," alongside Jeon Hye Jin.

Helmed by Lee Jung Jae as his first directorial film, the action drama movie was invited to the 75th Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 17 to 28.

In an exclusive report cited by Osen, the two A-listers arrived at Incheon International Airport as they departed for France. Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung are expected to walk the red carpet together as they introduce "Hunt" to a global audience.

As previously cited by Korea Joongang Daily, the upcoming film will be screened at the Midnight Screening, known as the non-competitive section of the festival.

Before Lee Jung Jae's "Hunt," other K-movies screen was the Kim Jee Woon directed action crime film "A Bittersweet Life" in 2005.

Other Korean movies invited to the same selection include "The Chaser" by Na Hong Jin, and Yeon Sang Ho directed "Train to Busan" in 2016.

Interestingly, this was followed by the Sol Kyung Gu and Im Si Wan-led 2017 film "The Merciless" directed by Byun Seong Hyun.

Lee Jung Jae directed the movie "Hunt," is an espionage action drama film set in the 1980s. At the time when South Korea's military regime was at its peak.

In the forthcoming film, he plays the character of Park Pyung Ho, an elite agent who works under the Agency for National Security Planning. His mission is to hunt down North Korean spies while coming to terms with the truth about his country.

Meanwhile, Jung Woo Sung took on the role of Kim Jung Do, a known rival of Park Pyung Ho.

"Hunt" also highlights how the duo suspect each other as a hidden spy but are surprised upon encountering a huge incident.

While the upcoming espionage drama movie will be aired for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival, viewers will get to see "Hunt" on the big screen sometime this year.

Lee Jung Jae worked on and wrapped up his first-ever directorial movie after Netflix's "Squid Game."

To recall, the Netflix series was the actor's last K-drama project. With the massive hype and overwhelming support from viewers worldwide, the 9-episode series became the streaming giant's biggest show yet, surpassing the reign of the U.S period drama "Bridgerton."

Moreover, the success also prompted director and creator Hwang Dong Hyuk to create the highly anticipated "Squid Game" season 2.

Hwang Dong Hyuk revealed that the second installment will be released in 2024, with Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun reprising their roles.
