Rookie actress Kim Si Eun dishes out the most challenging part of filming Bae Doona's new movie "Next Sohee." The actress, alongside award-winning director July Jung, is in France to attend the Cannes Film Festival 2022.
"Next Sohee" was among the Korean movies invited to participate in the prestigious ceremony. Apart from the mystery-drama film, which stars Bae Doona and Kim Si Eun, Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung's "Hunt" and "Decision to Leave" is also part of the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival.
Interestingly, Bae Doona's second movie, "Broker," alongside IU, Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, and Lee Joo Young, is also part of the annual ceremony.
As for "Next Sohee," the film is invited as the closing movie of the festival's parallel sidebar, the Critics' Week program. During the interview, Kim Si Eun and director July Jung shared thoughts and experiences about the movie.
Kim Si Eun Reveals the Hardest Part Filming 'Next Sohee'
Bae Doona's new movie "Next Sohee" is based on a true story that took place in a call center in Jeonju, South Korea, in 2016.
The story centers around a high school student named Sohee, played by Kim Si Eun. She works as a trainee for a subcontracted position at a call center; however, an unfortunate incident transpired at a workplace after getting involved in a mysterious incident that leads to her death.
With this, Detective Oh Eugene, played by Bae Doona, starts to investigate Sohee's death.

In an interview as noted by Yonhap News, Kim Si Eun shared that the most challenging part of filming the movie was being sexually harassed by a customer over the phone.
Thankfully, director July Jung was there to give her a pep talk, adding, "When I was having a hard time, director July Jung told me, 'You don't have to be Sohee in places other than the filming site.'"
Moreover, the rookie actress revealed that she "talked a lot with the director to find the right direction to express" the character as real as possible.
"Next Sohee" is Kim Si Eun's first-ever lead role in the movie, and it is also her third time appearing on the big screen following her debut in 2017.

With her first-ever movie, Kim Si Eun is thrilled that "Next Sohee" was invited to the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival.
As obtained by News 1 Korea, the rookie actress says that attending the festival was surreal, especially when the movie premiered.
For the actress, the standing ovation by the crowd was an "unforgettable moment." She says that "many people applauded for a longer time than expected," and Kim Si Eun considers it a moment she "never experienced" in her life.
"I thought I should cherish this moment and remember it forever," she said.
Meanwhile, the "Next Sohee" director shares that she wanted this more than just a movie.
July Jung, whose debut film "The Girl at My Door" was also invited to the 67th Cannes Film Festival, said that she wanted the film to expand into a documentary rather than a "story style movie."
The renowned filmmaker shared that there's a hope that a person like Eugene exists.
