Song Kang Ho revealed his initial reaction after being hailed as the Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.

The veteran actor made history as the first male Korean actor to ever win at Cannes.

To recall, Jeon Do Yeon also bagged the Best Actress award for her 2007 film "Secret Sunshine." The 55-year-old actor took home the award for his stellar performance in "Broker," directed by Japanese filmmaker Koreeda Hirokazu.

At the ceremony, Song Kang Ho was joined by the director and co-stars IU, Kang Dong Won, and Lee Joo Young.

Bae Doona was also among the lead stars but failed to join the team due to schedule conflict.

During their arrival in South Korea, the "Broker" team held a press conference at the CGV Yongsan to celebrate major achievements.

Song Kang Ho Says He Experienced 'Bizarre Feeling' After Winning the Best Actor Award

As noted by Korea Herald, Song Kang Ho recalled when his name was called for the Best Actor category. He said he felt "happy" and felt like he was in a "state of dreaming."

In addition, he gets honest and reveals that he slightly "panicked" as soon as his name got called.

"It is hard to recall the exact moment when my name was announced. I think I panicked and had a bizarre feeling and also was very happy," he said.

The veteran actor also shared that he had mixed emotions the night before the awarding ceremony. He revealed feeling "really nervous," considering that 7 out of 21 films competing at the festival get to take home awards.

Song Kang Ho Received Congratulatory Message from 'Parasite' Director

During the press conference, the 55-year-old star said that he received a message from Bong Joon Ho, who is in London, and from director Kim Ji Hoon in Korea. He shared they streamed the ceremony on YouTube. Song Kang Ho revealed he got a lot of praises and congratulatory messages from them.

Interestingly, it was the first text he received after winning Cannes Film Festival 2022 Best Actor.

"Broker" was invited to compete at the festival's coveted Palme D'or category alongside fellow South Korean movie "Decision to Leave" by director Park Chan Wook who won the Best Director award at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

Following the movie's debut, the Koreeda Hirokazu film received a 12-minute long-standing ovation from the crowd. There's no doubt why the film bagged a major award at the festival.

While "Broker" successfully premiered at Cannes, Song Kang Ho and IU's new movie will be released in theaters on June 8.
