In a way the relationship between actress Kim Hyo Jin and her husband actor-director Yoo Ji Tae can be described as a model one. In fact, that's how they met. The couple both modeled for the same clothing brand and became friends while posing for the cameras. Three years later they began to date.
"We knew each other for a while," said Kim Hyo Jin. "We met through a commercial and we kept in touch. I had a chance to stay in New York for half a year, and that's when he first let me know how he really felt. He said that he missed me when we were apart."
They were not shy about making their relationship public and married on the fifth anniversary of the day they officially became a couple.
You may recognize Kim Hyo Jin as the disdainful actress in love with Jang Geun Suk in "Mary Stayed Out All Night." She also appeared in "Ice Girl, " "I Am Happy" and "Strangers 6."
After starting his career as a runway model, Yoo Ji Tae appeared in films such as "Attack the Gas Station," "One Fine Day," "Oldboy" and "Woman is the Future of Man." He quickly became a top actor but decided he would rather direct and switched to directing short films in 2003. He released the full-length film "Mai Ratima" this year.
The couple is known for their charity efforts. They both served as honorary ambassadors for the charity World Vision. The president of World Vision officiated at their wedding and the couple chose to donate a portion of their monetary gifts to help build a school in Myanmar.
The couple is also very environmentally conscious. They used wedding invitations on recycled paper.
In interviews for her upcoming film "Marriage Blue," with Taecyeon and Lee Yeon Hee, Km Hyo Jin was asked about the benefits of marriage.
"It's wonderful when you find out two years later that you have grown so comfortable with one another that you both watch the same movies, read the same books, ride bikes together, and do daily chores together," said Kim Hyo Jin. "I think my husband is my soul mate."
But as comfortable as they have become with each other Yoo Ji Tae still remembers to make romantic gestures. Neither of them is impressed by expensive gifts and grand gestures. She's impressed by the fact that he remembers anniversaries and sometimes bakes cakes.
