The award-winning actor joins the star-studded cast of the upcoming film for the press conference ahead of its premiere.
"Emergency Declaration" Director Han Jae Rim was present at the event alongside cast members Song Kang Ho, Im Si Wan, Jeon Do Yeon, Kim Nam Gil, and more.
At the media briefing, Lee Byung Hun spoke about a shocking revelation about his fear of flying.
Lee Byung Hun Shares Relatable Moments With his Character in 'Emergency Declaration'
As obtained by a media outlet, the renowned South Korean star says that he suffered from panic disorder and would often experience it when flying.
"I actually experienced panic disorder on an airplane in my mid-20s," he recalled, adding, "I've actually experienced feelings and symptoms of panic disorder several times since then, and I wanted to express those feelings for them to be felt by the audience."
Interestingly, he used this experience and emotion to convey his character's feelings in "Emergency Declaration.
"My character did not develop panic disorder, but rather a person who developed a phobia of flying for some reason. I wanted that to be expressed to some extent," he explained.
Moreover, Lee Byung Hun continued to discuss how he could relate to his role, Jae Hyuk, especially at the height of the crisis, saying that breathing in pain, anxious eyes, and always carrying medicine was "not so unfamiliar" to the actor.

"Emergency Declaration" depicts the incident at an airplane after a group of terrorists attacked the aircraft.
The upcoming action thriller drama film is among Lee Byung Hun's projects this 2022. He is also starring in forthcoming movies such as "The Match," "Concrete Utopia" and will also reprise his role in the highly anticipated "Squid Game 2."
Meet the Cast of Emergency Declaration
In the upcoming film, Lee Byung Hun plays the doting father Jae Hyuk, who has a photo of flying but had to visit his daughter in Hawaii for her treatment.
Joining him as a lead star is Song Kang Ho, who took the role of veteran detective In Ho, tasked to investigate the threats, while Jeon Do Yeon plays Sook Hee, from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation.
Meanwhile, Kim Nam Gil took the role of the first officer of the aircraft with Kim So Jin as flight attendant Hee Jin.
Viewers would also get to see Im Si Wan portray the role of the mysterious passenger, while Park Hae Joon will be the government's crisis management center head.
The movie initially made its debut at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in July 2021 but will have its theatrical release on August 3.
