IU might be returning to the small screen with a promising new K-drama "Life."
According to a report, the singer-actress has been selected to headline an upcoming series penned by "When the Camellia Blooms" writer Im Sang Choon and helmed by "Signal" and "Arthdal Chronicles" director Kim Won Suk.
Is Actress IU Back?
"Life" follows the story of a lovely girl and boy and their journey into four seasons.
While the officials are yet to confirm the complete cast lineup, the upcoming K-drama is set to premiere in late 2023 or early 2024.
As for IU's possible role, the officials were tight-lipped about the new character, but the offer is for the lead star.
If the actress officially accepts the role, "Life" will be IU's K-drama comeback four years after the success of the rom-com fantasy "Hotel del Luna" opposite Yeo Jin Goo.
IU Stars With Park Seo Joon in 'Dream'
Besides being active in the music scene, IU is also booked and busy with upcoming movies.
Apart from a possible K-drama comeback, the 29-year-old beauty joins Park Seo Joon in sports themed film "Dream."
Despite experiencing delays due to COVID-19 restrictions, the cast and crew of the forthcoming movie complete its filming in April 2022.
Reports cited that "Dream" concluded its overseas production early this year and set its theatrical release in the same year.
For almost two years, the cast and crew were able to successfully finish its production in Korea and Hungary.
In "Dream" IU plays a producing director, Lee So Min, who is in charge of a documentary about a special football team.
Here, she meets Yoon Hong Dae, portrayed by Park Seo Joon who used to be a popular football player but continues to be a coach due to an incident.

"Dream" cast members also include Kim Jong Soo, Jung Seung Gil, Go Chang Suk, Lee Hyun Woo, Hong Wan Pyo, Yang Hyun Min and Heo Joon Suk.
Interestingly, Kang Ha Neul will also make a special appearance in the forthcoming film.
While viewers wait for her to team up with Park Seo Joon, Iu recently gained much attention globally after showing her versatility as an actress in "Broker."
IU's Versatility Shines in 'Broker'
Directed by the renowned Japanese filmmaker Koreeda Hirokazu, the drama movie follows the story of infants being left in a "baby box" while two brokers find their new family.
IU took the role of new mom Moon So Young, who gets intertwined with brokers Sang Hyun and Dong Soo, played by Song Kang Ho and Kang Dong Woon.
"Broker" also competed at the 75th Canned Film Festival leaving Song Kang Ho bagging the Best Actor award.
In the drama film, IU was praised by his co-stars Kang Dong Won and Song Kang Ho for her remarkable acting.
In a previous report cited by SBS News, the award-winning veteran actor expressed how amazed he is with IU and pointed out her "meticulous acting technique but also conveyed the exact emotions of the character."
