‘Seoul Vibe’: Yoo Ah In’s New Movie Brings Out Fun, Vibrant Korean ‘Fast & Furious’ Spirit

Netflix's newest original movie "Seoul Vibe," which stars Yoo Ah In, Go Kyung Pyo, Park Ji Hu, Lee Kyu Hyung, and Ong Seong Wu, are far from the typical car-based action movies.

Set in the 1988 Olympic Games held in South Korea, the adventure-crime film delivered fun and thrilling energy with a kick of the "Fast & Furious" spirit.

Premiered on August 26 and helmed by Moon Hyun Sung of "The King's Note," the film brings out an 80s nostalgia in the middle of the heist.

"Seoul Vibe" follows the story of a group of car enthusiasts known as Sangedong Supreme team, who gets caught up in a special mission and transforms as undercover for a slush fund investigation of highly-influential personalities during the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

'Seoul Vibe' Recap: Dong Wook Leads the Sangedong Supreme Team

After Dong Wook (Yoo Ah In) and Joon Gi (Ong Seong Wu) successfully completed a heist transaction in Saudi Arabia, the duo returned to their homeland, South Korea.

Welcomed by their good friend Bok Nam (Lee Kyu Hyung), their reunion was cut short after the police chased Dong Wook and Joon Gi.

At their hideout, filled with Seoul's past and present memorabilia, Prosecutor Ahn Pyeong Wook (Oh Jung Se) set out an interesting deal in exchange for being undercover. He promised to wipe out all their criminal records and get them U.S visas if they agreed to be part of his investigation.

The special mission included infiltrating the group led by Chairwoman Kang In Sook (Moon So Ri) and Director Lee Hyun Kyung (Kim Sung Kyun), who are involved in the former government's secret fund.

To get in, they must stand out in the selection process by winning the car race. Winners will get incentives for the task of carrying out special deliveries for Chairman Kang.

Lo and behold, Sangedong Supreme Team gets the job with Dong Wook leading the deliveries.

Sangedong Supreme Team's Mission Gets Busted

Just when they thought that everything was going smooth sailing, Director Lee found out about the team's connection with Prosecutor Ahn.

In a secret audio recording, he heard that in exchange for extracting information, they will be granted U.S visas and clean out their criminal records.

Director Lee got back at them by murdering Prosecutor Ahn and torturing John (Go Kyung Pyo), who was disguised as the group's resident DJ.

To save his friend and finish what the prosecutor started, Dong Wook planned to get even with Chairman Kang's team.

Thankfully, there was a recording that contains Chairman Kang and the general talking about pinning the activities to Director Lee if it all goes down.

Dong Wook used this as his ace to set out a special plan.

Furious by what he heard, the director agreed to team up with Dong Wook by hiring him to deliver special goods to Ms. Kang, which contains all their money can be transferred to another country.

Sangedong Supreme Team's D-day Set During 1988 Seoul Olympics

D-day has come to the Sangedong Supreme Team. After gearing up for their last mission, Dong Wook gets the goods from Director Lee.

Together with his team, Dong Wook escaped being tailed by his men and sabotages their deal.

Dong Wook has contacted Chief Prosecutor Wong In and promised to finish Prosecutor Ahn's investigation by handing him to Chairman Kang.

The 1988 Seoul Olympics became a memorable event as Dong Wook, and Director Lee disrupted the whole event with intense car chases.

After the police settled things with the director, it was time for Dong Wook to get to business and find Ms. Kang.

He managed to get on the plane, along with her money, which surprised the chairman that it was Dong Wook who delivered the goods.

Thankfully, after a series of intense gun-fighting scenes, he managed to escape along with her money.

In the last scene, Dong Wook and the team paid their respect to Prosecutor Ahn by visiting his grave. The team also wanted to start afresh in a different country using the money they secretly got from the mission.
