Yoo Ah In’s ‘Seoul Vibe’ Enters Netflix Top 10 Movies Worldwide + Ranked 1st in 7 Countries

"Seoul Vibe" starring Yoo Ah In, Lee Kyung Hyung, Gong Kyung Pyo, and more has been getting positive responses since it officially made its premiere on August 26.

The action-adventure crime film is dubbed as the Korean "Fast & Furious" since it centers around a group of car enthusiasts who found themselves in the middle of a dangerous mission.

Just days after its global debut, "Seoul Vibe" entered Netflix's Top 10 movies.

According to Flix Patrol, a streaming data aggregator platform, the Yoo Ah In-led movie made at ninth place in the worldwide top 10 movies on Netflix, four days after its release.

Moreover, as of August 30 rankings, "Seoul Vibe" took fourth place in the Netflix global Top 10 movie (non-English) category.

Meanwhile, the action-adventure crime film is currently the most watched film in seven countries including South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

Helmed by "The King's Case Note" director Moon Hyun Sung, "Seoul Vibe" depicts the journey of five car enthusiasts, known as the Sangedong Supreme team, headed by Dong Wook, played by Yoo Ah In.

Following a successful activity in Saudi Arabia, he and his friend, Joon Gi (Ong Seong Wu) returned to South Korea.

However, they were blinded by a deal from Prosecutor Ahn (Oh Jung Se) to whip out all their cases in their homeland in exchange for joining his investigation.

With hopes of having a fresh start, Dong Wook and his team participate in a dangerous mission.

The group will infiltrate and get information regarding the slush fund activities by Chairwoman Kang (Moon So Ri) and her right hand, Director Lee (Kim Sung Kyun.)

On the first day of one of Korea's remarkable events, the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Sangedong Supreme team sets out their plan to get back at Chairwoman Kang.

"Seoul Vibe" featured action-packed and intense car chase scenes with a fun and vibrant flare.

Apart from the heart-stopping scene, the movie also featured nostalgic OSTs which include "CITY+++ (feat. Gaeko)" by Mino, who also appeared in the movie.

Director, Yoo Ah In Talk About 'Seoul Vibe'

During the "Seoul Vibe" press conference, director Moon Hyun Sung shared why he chose the 1988 Seoul Olympics as the backdrop of the movie.

As obtained by a media outlet, he explained that it was one of the most remarkable eras of South Korea "when bright and dark sides both existed. I wanted to create a story set in that interesting time."

On the other hand, Yoo Ah In spoke about his transformation into top drifter Dong Wook.

He said that he enjoyed playing Dong Wook's vibrant energy and at some point got "obsessed with his appearance" adding that it is "completely different from me in real life."

As seen in the movie, the character dons the 80s style where hip-hop meets fashion.
