"Hunt" and "6/5" are head to head in the Korean box office race as two movies predicted to set new milestones over the weekend. While new movies have recently made their premieres, these two films are leading the race on the big screen.

Lee Jung Jae's 'Hunt' Expected to Hit 4 Million Mark

According to a local media outlet, the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network cited that the Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung-led movie "Hunt" is close to hitting 4 million viewers after garnering a total of 3,913,124 as of September 2.

After reigning at the box office for weeks, "Hunt" slid to second place as the comedy movie "6/45" ascends to the top spot.

Released on August 10, "Hunt" depicts the story of two skilled National Intelligence Service (NIS) agents named Park Pyung Ho (Lee Jung Jae) and Kim Jung Do (Jung Woo Sung) who are sent on a special mission to go after the North Korean spies.

However, in the middle of the operation, the duo discovers surprising information and gets winded up in a tricky situation.

Interestingly, the espionage action film is Lee Jung Jae's directorial debut which he has been working on for four years.

Joining Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung are Jeon Hye Jin, "Alchemy of Souls" actress Go Yoon Jung and "Squid Game" villain Heo Sung Tae.

Apart from its theatrical release, "Hunt" was also among the Korean movies that got invited to the Cannes Film festival 2022 where it received a standing ovation from the crowd.

While the movie continues to gain an overwhelming response from the Korean audience, "Hunt" is also premiering in 144 countries including Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Germany, France, Brazil, and Mexico.

The comedy movie "6/45" is raking not just good reviews but the hearts of viewers as Go Kyung Pyo and Lee Yi Kyung's movie is set to reach a new milestone.

In the same report, the film garnered 47,654 audiences at 1,186 theaters on September 1, scoring a total of 727,794 viewers.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network, it is expected that the movie will hit its first million over the weekend as "6/45" is currently in first place at the Korean box office.

Released on August 24, the comedy movie is Park Gyu Tae who directed the 2007 comedy-drama film "Bunt."

"6/45" follows the story of North and South Korean soldiers who fight over the first prize lottery ticket after it ends up in the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

Joining the two as lead stars are Eum Moon Suk as Captain Kang, Park Se Wan, and Kang Do Yeon.
