KBS' historical-romance series "The King's Affection," which stars Park Eun Bin and SF9 Rowoon, earned a nomination at the 50th International Emmy Awards.

'The King's Affection' Nominated At the International Emmy Awards

While she is on a break before her much-awaited fan meetings in Asia, Park Eun Bin is consistently dominating the media in the past week.

According to Newsen on October 4, Park Eun Bin and Rowoon's "The King's Affection," which aired in the fourth quarter of 2021, is a finalist at the upcoming 50th International Emmy Awards in the telenovela category. The big news was announced last September 30 by the said organization.

"The King's Affection" depicts the story of child-born twins who were abandoned. Having them is an ominous sign so when the princess who gave birth to them received an order that her daughter will be killed, she immediately sent her child away and faked her death in order to save her.

However, years later, her twin brother Lee Hwi is killed, and she decided to fake her identity as a man to give justice to her brother.

Even before the drama received such a huge nomination, "The King's Affection" already solidified its title during its run. It became a hot topic among fans and viewers, making it to Netflix's global top 10. In addition, it drew sympathy from the viewers with the appearance of a female protagonist disguised as a man who broke the stereotype of the previous historical drama and overcame adversity by becoming a king.

Interestingly, the drama's writer Han Hee Jung recently bagged the International Competition Writer Award at the 17th Seoul Drama Awards, which was held last September 22, and its stars also won major awards at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards: Park Eun Bin received the Best Actress, Rowoon as New Best Actor, the two also bagged the Netizen and Best Couple Awards.

Park Eun Bin was also hailed as Best Actress at the 49th Korean Broadcasting Awards.

Meanwhile, KBS Chairperson Yoon Jae Hyuk, who was in charge of the production shared a short message saying, "This nomination is because of the interest and love of domestic and foreign viewers."

Furthermore, the International Emmy Awards is an annual event hosted by the International Academy of Television Arts and Science (IATAS) and is included in the world's top three broadcasting awards along with Canada's Banff TV Festival and Monico's Monte Carlo TV Festival.

The awards ceremony will take place in New York this November 22.

Park Eun Bin is also making her visit to the USA in the first week of November to receive the Rising Star Award, which she won at the Asia Pacific Cinema & TV Founding Celebration.
