Chae Jong Hyeop will return to the small screen as Kim So Hyun's co-star in the webtoon drama "Is It Fate?" In an exclusive report cited by Xports News, the actor will play one of the lead stars in the rom-com K-drama.
Chae Jong Hyeop Plays Kim So Hyun's Love Interest in 'Is It Fate?'
The upcoming series is based on a Naver webtoon written by Nam Ji Eun and Kim In Ho back in 2011.
After more than 10 years, "Is It Fate?" is adapted into a K-drama with Chae Jong Hyeop and Kim So Hyun portraying the main characters.
In the forthcoming K-drama, Chae Jong Hyeop will take on the role of handsome Kang Hoo Yeong who gets reunited with Lee Hong Joo (Kim So Hyun) after not seeing each other for over a decade.
Kim So Hyun's character works as an animation producer who is afraid of love due to her past relationships.
Interestingly, the duo's team-up will surely spark excitement among viewers, especially with their on-screen chemistry.
With an update about the lead stars, "Is It Fate?" will be directed by Song Hyun Wook of hit K-dramas such as "Introverted Boss," "The Beauty Inside," "The King's Affection," and "The Golden Spoon."

As for the broadcast network, it is still in talks about whether the forthcoming series will air via tvN.
From Second Lead to Main Star
Chae Jong Hyeop made his K-drama debut in 2016 as a supporting actor in "Webtoon Hero - Tundra Show Season 2" however it was his appearance in "Hot Stove League" starring Namgoong Min that gained the public's attention.
From then on, the 29-year-old actor continued to captivate viewers with his supporting characters, joining the cast of "Sisyphus: The Myth" and eventually landing a major role in the webtoon-based K-drama "Nevertheless."
Viewers were drawn to Chae Jong Hyeop's character, Yang Do Hyuk as he plays the second lead who harbors secret feelings towards his childhood friend Yoo Na Bi, played by Han So Hee but she ended up with Park Jae Eon portrayed by Song Kang.
There's no doubt that 2021 is a fruitful year for the actor as he stars in another K-drama "The Witch's Diner" as main character where he took the role of Lee Gil Yong who reportedly wasn't in the webtoon but created his character for the K-drama.
Interestingly, he surprised the fans with his new character, playing a skilled professional badminton player Park Tae Joon in the sports romance series "Love All Play" opposite Park Ju Hyun.
During his appearance for Harper's Bazaar Korea, Chae Jong Hyeop was asked about the similarities and difference between playing his character in "Hot Stove League" and "Love All Play" given that both series focuses on sports
He said that his character in "Stove League" "works extremely hard" while his role in "Love All Play" is the total opposite in terms of eagerness and professionalism.
However, the actor says that they are both the same in the "preparation process" but "worked harder for the latter role" referring to Park Tae Joon's character.
