Police will continue to look into Yoo Ah In's drug case after the actor tested positive for various types of illegal substances.
After being subjected to habitual drug use by South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the prolific actor underwent a series of investigations as authorities dug deep into the case.
As the probe continues, the Seodaemun-gu Police Agency gives an update regarding the actor's case and explained why it took them months to rule out the incident.
Yoo Ah In's Drug Scandal to Involve 'More Subjects'
In a report cited by a local media outlet, Police Commissioner Yoon Hee Geun explained to the media why Yoo Ah In's drug case is different from singer Don Spike, who was sentenced to probation for possessing and using drugs.
"The Don Spike case was simply carried out as one case, so it led to arrest and arrest immediately," the commisioner mentioned, explaining the reason behind the delay and turnaround time in the actor's drug charges.
Moreover, despite the fact that the two celebrities both deal with illegal substances, the commissioner also pointed out that they are in different scenarios; hence, they handle the situation differently.
"In the first place, the Ministry of Food Safety and Drug Safety received information about the investigation," referring to Yoo Ah In's drug probe, adding, "and the contents were related to drugs such as propofol, cannabis, and zolpidem, so the cases are different and there are many charges."

Yoo Ah In Grilled by Police Despite Apology
As mentioned, Yoo Ah In tested positive for four types of illegal substances: propofol, marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine.
Due to this, he was barred from leaving the country while the investigation continued. In addition, his Itaewon house was also raided by the police to collect evidence that will serve as additional information in the case.
However, in March, after being summoned by authorities, Yoo Ah In, along with his legal team, was questioned at the Mapo-gu office of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
Although he did not give a statement before the investigation, the actor appeared before the media and apologized for his actions. In addition, he also apologized to his colleagues and fans for the "shameful" incident.
Apart from receiving public criticism, Yoo Ah In faced massive setbacks due to his involvement with drugs.
According to an outlet, he dropped out of the highly anticipated Netflix series "Hellbound 2," while brands withdrew their endorsement deals with the actor in response to his ongoing drug use investigation.
