Viewers will get to see Jung Sung Il in a different light as he joins the cast of the upcoming Netflix movie "War and Revolt."
The South Korean star took the world by storm when he starred in the revenge drama "The Glory," together with Song Hye Kyo and Lim Ji Yeon.
As the Netflix series successfully wrapped up with two parts, Jung Sung Il will have his big screen comeback through a forthcoming historical movie.
Jung Sung Il Stars as Brutal Vanguard in 'War and Revolt'
As obtained by a news portal, the 43-year-old actor officially has joined the "War and Revolt" lineup.
Headlined by award-winning stars Cha Seung Won, Kang Dong Won, and "Hellbound" actor Park Jung Min, it depicts the journey of two childhood friends under the Imjin War period in the 1590s.
At the height of the Japanese invasion during the Joseon period, the two friends grew up and decided to take part in and fight the invasion.
In the upcoming Netflix movie, Jung Sung Il plays the antagonist and transforms into Genshin, a brutal vanguard of the Japanese army who is well-known for his extraordinary swordsmanship.
"War and Revolt" will showcase the actor's versatility as he portrays a merciless character.
'War and Revolt' Cast, Release Date
In the upcoming historical movie, Kang Dong Woon takes on the role of Chun Young, who was born as a slave but possesses great sword-fighting skills. With this, he decides to join the revolution and fight against the invasion.
Meanwhile, his best friend, Jong Ryeo, came from one of the most highly-revered noble families in the country.
Joining as one of the lead stars, Cha Seung Won plays King Seon Jo, the royal who abandoned his people at the height of the Japanese invasion.

Interestingly, apart from the lead stars, "War and Revolt" also includes a roster of supporting cast members.
Kim Shin Rok from "Hellbound" and "Reborn Rich" will also join the movie alongside award-winning actor Jin Seon Kyu.
Jung Sung Il Lands 2nd Heyday Thanks to 'The Glory'
Fans might recognize Jung Sung Il from series like "Stranger 2," "Birthcare Center," and "Through the Darkness," but his popularity reached a major boost after landing the role of Ha Do Young in "The Glory."
During his shoot with Dazed Korea, he spoke about how his life changed after joining the Netflix series.
Thankful for being part of "The Glory," Jung Sung Il shared that he has been receiving "more offers with diverse scripts and roles than before."
For him, it is important as an actor to deliver a wide array of characters to the public to show his versatility.
