"Squid Game" Season 2 cast lineup will remain despite Choi Seung Hyun's casting backlash.

Back in June, Netflix dropped the names of celebrities who would be joining the much-anticpated sequel. However, following the second announcement of the "Squid Game" Season 2 cast, viewers expressed mixed reactions to the former BIGBANG member's casting.

Choi Seung Hyun to Remain as 'Squid Game' Season 2 Cast

As mentioned by a media outlet, the production team spoke about the updates regarding the activities of the Netflix series this 2023.

Choi Seung Hyun reportedly has no plans on stepping down amid the criticisms regarding his casting in "Squid Game" season 2.

In addition, Kang Ae Shim, Lee David, Jo Yu Ri, Won Ji An, Noh Jae Won, and Choi Seung Hyun will also join the supporting cast.

As for the K-pop star, this will be his first time appearing onscreen since "Out of Control" back in 2019.

However, as the cast lineup included the former BIGBANG member, some speculated that Lee Jung Jae helped him get on board. The issue was immediately addressed by his agency, saying that the actor had not seen the K-pop star in years except during the script reading.

Meanwhile, production hasn't started, but "Squid Game" Season 2's target release date is 2024.
