"Smugglers" and "Concrete Utopia" are leading the Korean box office with impressive responses from viewers.
Since the movies officially premiered in theaters, both star-studded films racked positive reactions from the public, and scored remarkable box office success.
'Smugglers' Officially Hits 4 Million Mark
In a report cited by a news outlet, the action-crime movie "Smugglers" continues to prove the box office syndrome after receiving a new milestone since its premiere.
The Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah-led film surpassed 4.35 million cumulative audiences in its third week of release.
As mentioned by the Korea Film Promotion Commission's integrated computer network, the film has maintained a consistently high reservation rate since the premiere.
On top of that, the action-crime film recorded a high number of seat sales.
While "Smugglers" officially hit the 4 million mark, another star-studded film is making a huge scene in the Korean box office.
As obtained by Ten Asia, the movie theater ticket integrated computer network has garnered over 1 million moviegoers since "Concrete Utopia" hit the big screen.The movie recorded a cumulative audience of 1,546,261 in the first week of release.
With this, "Concrete Utopia," directed by Uhm Tae Hwa, ranked first at the box office. It stars Lee Byung Hun, Park Seo Joon, Park Bo Young, and more, who play survivors after a massive earthquake hit Seoul.
Coming in at second is "Smugglers," followed by the animation comedy film "Elemental" by Disney/Pixar.
Wrapping the top five is "Unofficial Operation," starring Ha Jung Woo and Ju Ji Hoon, in fourth place, while the Hollywood film "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One" lands in fifth place.
