Song Joong Ki talked about his acting journey and experience joining the movie "Hopeless."
Before the show's premiere, the noir film made headlines after the top star decided to lead the movie without pay in support of the film's artistic quality.
Other than that, Song Joong Ki also agreed to play a supporting role in "Hopeless" for an amazing reason.
During his interview with local media outlets, the South Korean heartthrob revealed the reason he accepted the offer despite not taking on the lead character.
Here's Why Song Joong Ki Agreed to Join 'Hopeless' Despite Not Playing the Main Character
As explained by Song Joong Ki to the press, he personally didn't think that he had to be the main character and wanted the junior actor, Hong Xa Bin, to get the spotlight for his first lead role.
Song Joong Ki's new movie "Hopeless," also called "Hwaran," is a noir drama that focuses on Yeon Gyu's story. He wants to escape from the hellish reality and violence of his father with the hope of moving to a different country.
However, he unexpectedly meets the middle boss of an organization, Chi Geon. Because of this, Yeon Gyu ends up in a dangerous world with Chi Geon's group.
Other than Song Joong Ki and Hong Xa Bin, viewers get to see singer BIBI take on the role of Ha Yan.
In addition, the South Korean top star is said to be one of the movie's producers, along with Han Jae Deok.
Before its official release in theaters on October 11, "Hopeless" was invited to the Un Certain Regard section, where it made its grand premiere at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival along with other international movies.
At the time, "Hopeless" recorded full seats right before the screening and even received a standing ovation, showing the audience's enthusiastic appreciation for the film.
