Officials have selected more stars to join Gong Hyo Jin in her comeback movie, "The Journey to Gyeongju."
Following the news about the actress' possible return to the big screen, film officials have revealed two additions to the cast lineup.
'The Journey to Gyeongju' Features Talented Cast Lineup
In an exclusive report by The Fact, Lee Jung Eun and Lee Yeon were selected to appear in the upcoming series.
According to the outlet, the veteran actress is being offered to portray the role of mother in the upcoming film "The Journey to Gyeongju," while the 28-year-old rookie actress is in talks to play the third daughter.
Lee Yeon is best known for her remarkable performance in "Juvenile Justice," as well as the action thriller "Duty After School" parts 1 and 2.
She once again proved her versatility after landing the role of rookie assassin in Netflix's "Kill Bok Soon."
As for Lee Jung Eun, the award-winning star has appeared in tons of notable K-dramas and movies: from the Oscar-winning film "Parasite" to series such as "Law School," "Our Blues," and the recently-concluded "Daily Dose of Sunshine" and "A Bloody Lucky Day,"
In addition to this, "The Journey to Gyeongju" will be the duo's reunion, as Lee Jung Eun and Lee Yeon both starred in Netflix's "Juvenile Justice."
What to Expect in 'The Journey to Gyeongju'
Before January ends, news outlets shared that Gong Hyo Jin is slated to return to the big screen after her hiatus.
After the 2019 movie "The Most Ordinary Romance" and the documentary Ordinary Courage," released in 2022, the queen of rom-com is back with an upcoming film.
"The Journey to Gyeongju" is a revenge-filled storyline that depicts the story of a mother caught up in a challenging situation, and wants to seek justice for the death of her child.
Gong Hyo Jin takes on the role of the eldest daughter, while Park So Dam is in talks to join as the middle child.
Expectations rise as the upcoming film showcases an amazing cast lineup.
On the other hand, the upcoming film will be helmed by "Gull" director Kim Mi Jo.
Meanwhile, "The Journey to Gyeongju" will be Gong Hyo Jin's second project after being married to singer and songwriter Kevin Oh. She headlines the upcoming rom-com K-drama "When the Stars Gossip" with Lee Min Ho.
Gong Hyo Jin takes on the role of an American-Korean astronaut named Eve Kim who met OB Gyn Gong Ryong, played by the South Korean heartthrob, in a space expedition.
In addition to her forthcoming projects, the award-winning actress also stars in the highly anticipated series "Queen of the Scene" with fellow lead star Park Ha Sun.
