Lee Ji Ah's comeback drama "Queen of Divorce" is creating quite the buzz in the Hallyu scene even before its premiere.
In an interview with GQ Korea magazine, the actress addressed the criticisms regarding her brand new work. Keep on reading.
Lee Ji Ah Dishes On Criticisms About 'Queen of Divorce'
On January 26, Lee Ji Ah's brief talk with GQ Korea was finally released, sharing a glimpse into the actress' thoughts.
This 2024, Lee Ji Ah is making her K-drama comeback as a reputable divorce lawyer in the new JTBC series "Queen of Divorce" with Kang Ki Young.
Interestingly, the actress experienced divorce first half. In 1997, she married South Korea's top singer Seo Taiji. However, their romance was short-lived, and decided to separate after two years.
Their marriage didn't receive a lot of media coverage until reports of a property division lawsuit surfaced, creating one of the biggest "scandals" in the country.
With this, spectators are curious why Lee Ji Ah accepted the offer to star in the JTBC series considering that she experienced such a horrible experience firsthand.
The actress told GQ Korea that it's "not a big deal," coolly showcasing her strong mentality. She added, "Divorce is common especially for couples who are unhappy. It's a normal thing."
Lee Ji Ah shared that her experience made her understand more of her character, especially the process of the divorce, the pain that comes with it and its effects on the people after it's all over.
Through "Queen of Divorce," the actress hopes to open the viewers' eyes about the many reasons why divorce is not "taboo," and how it lessens the burdens of unhappy couples.
