Kim Jae Joong is making his much anticipated silver screen return with the upcoming occult horror film "Shrine" this 2024.
The film marks his first-ever film after 12 long years, raising excitement among the viewers. It will be helmed by a Japanese director, which is also a first in the South Korean cinema industry.
Kim Jae Joong Returns To Silver Screen With 'Shrine'
On March 4, media outlets reported that singer-actor Kim Jae Joong is finally coming back to the silver screens this 2024 with a brand new film.
According to the news, the Hallyu star is starring in the upcoming horror film "Shrine" as the male lead. He will play a shaman who sets up a shrine after graduating from art school.
"Shrine" follows the life of three students who disappear during an expedition to an abandoned shrine in Japan, and how a shaman uncovers the identity of the evil spirit that abducted them.
The film marks Kim Jae Joong's movie comeback after 12 long years, and his acting comeback in a year after starring in "Bad Memory Eraser" with Jin Se Yeon last year.

Meanwhile, "Shrine" also stars Gong Sung Ha of "Doctor Slump" as Kim Jae Joong's friend who will aid him in his journey in solving the eerie events surrounding the three missing students.
Attention is focused on Kim Jae Joong as he takes on his first-ever horror project. In addition, expectations are also high for the two actors' synergy as they work together for the first time.
'Shrine' Further Details, Filming Date & More
Kim Jae Joong's comeback film "Shrine" is set to begin filming this March. It will be filmed in Japan with the guidance of award-winning director Kazuyoshi Kumakiri.
"Shrine" will be the first South Korean film to be directed by a Japanese director. Many fans look forward to seeing the project as the renowned filmmaker has produced great works in the past.
Kazuyoshi Kumakiri directed the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival winner "658 km, Yoko no Tabi" and "#Manhole" which was screened at the 27th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.
