Kwak Dong Yeon's K-Drama Characters' Unfortunate Fate
Kwak Dong Yeon is one of the versatile actors in the drama industry today. But despite playing interesting roles, most of the characters he portrayed did not have good endings.
To recall, in "Big Mouth," he transformed into the character of Jerry, a conman imprisoned with Park Chang Ho (Lee Jong Suk) and a huge fan of Big Mouse. Since he was a diehard fan of the notorious conman, he was loyal to Park Chang Ho as he thinks he is the real Big Mouse.
As the story progresses, Jerry attempts to save Chang Ho and gets into a serious car accident that took his life.
Kwak Dong Yeon has repeatedly played characters with unfortunate fates, either ending up dying or close to death. He portrayed Kim Byung Yeon in "Love in the Moonlight," a loyal guard who sacrificed himself to protect Crown Prince Lee Young (Park Bo Gum) after being slashed in the chest.
Fortunately, he recovered after suffering a wound.
One of his famous characters Jang Han Seo in the megahit drama "Vincenzo" also had an unfortunate ending.
In the finale episode of the smash-hit series, he died after trying to stop his villainous brother Jang Joon Woo (Ok Taecyeon). Han Seo was killed, and until his last breath, he chose to protect his friend and brother figure Vincenzo.
Fans Demand For Kwak Dong Yeon's Role in 'Queen of Tears' To Have Happy Ending
This 2024, as he is back with another interesting role as Hong Soo Chul, the younger brother of Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won) in "Queen of Tears," viewers are dreading that he might have a sad ending too.
In the latest episode of the series, Hong Soo Chul's wife left him with their son. With only a letter, she left and flew to the States. Soo Chul was also in shock to see his family falling apart.
Now, as viewers watch him become miserable, people demand the production team to give his character have a happy ending.
Interestingly, prior to "Queen of Tears" premiere, fans expressed their sentiments online, saying how they wanted Kwak Dong Yeon to live happily ever after.
- "I can't take it anymore, my fyp is full of Kwak Dong Yeon's character crying for his son. Give his character a happy ending, please."
- "I'm tired of seeing him suffer."
- "Let this man have his happy ending."

Meanwhile, viewers also acknowledge Kwak Dong Yeon's notable acting. Despite having minor roles, the actor always impresses the with his high-caliber acting.
