The long wait is over for Netflix's "Parasyte: The Grey" as the psychological sci-fi thriller series has finally hit the screens this April 5.
In the pilot episode, parasitic life forms take over the world, harming Jeon So Nee in the process. What will happen to her? Read on to know more.
Parasites Fall From the Sky
The first episode begins with a strange-looking spore falling from the sky, creating ruckus at a festival. A larva sprouts and makes its way to a young man, entering his body through his ear. He soon falls unconscious.
Later, he wakes up as a host to the parasite inside his body. Tentacles with blades at the tips branch out of him, killing people around him.
Jung Su In Becomes a Host
Jung Su In (Jeon So Nee) finishes her work as a supermarket cashier. On her way home, the man she had an argument with hits her with his car.
The man also stabs her with a knife, fatally injuring her. As she lies on the ground, a spore falls from the sky and a larva soon takes over her body.
Just when the man tries to kill her off, tentacles with blades sprout out from her head. The police soon arrive and find out that Jung Su In is miraculously unharmed.
It is revealed that she has prior history with Chul Min (Kwon Hae Yo), the detective, as he saved her from her own abusive father when she was a child.
Parasites Take Over the World
People who have become hosts to unknown parasites are banding together at a secret place, hoping to keep themselves alive, and hoping to recruit Jung Su In in their group.
She is then given a pamphlet about the prayer meeting at Saejin Church, telling her to join their organization. Later, Jung Su In captures Seol Kang Woo (Koo Kyo Hwan) from his hiding place.
When Jung Su In wakes up, she's back in her human form. Seol Kang Woo explains what happened, and how the parasites took over her body. However, she's not a full mutant yet.
The parasites can only take over her body for 15 minutes when she's in danger since they failed to completely take over Jung Su In's brain. Its job now is to protect her human body from harm.
Choi Jun Kyung's Best Laid Plan
At the police station, Choi Jun Kyung (Lee Jung Hyun) shares all information about the parasitic life forms as the team leader of Team Grey, the special task force against the creatures.
She explains how it takes over one's body, and how it kills other people around them. Choi Jun Kyung reveals that in order to kill a parasite, it must not have a living host body.
The best way to kill a parasite is to make the host bleed out all at once, or kill them in one go. She shares a device that dispenses a chemical that will immobilize the parasites.
It turns out that her own husband is a host to a parasite, and is using him to detect other parasites nearby. He's called the "Hunting Dog."
