Kim Soo Hyun Fails to Lead April Star Brand Reputation Ranking Despite ‘Queen of Tears’ Craze — Who's Number 1?

While K-drama fans are going crazy over "Queen of Tears," starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, the lead stars failed to reign in the April 2024 Star Brand Reputation Ranking.

The Korean Business Research Institute released the latest ranking for the month of April, with celebrities from the music and entertainment industries making it to the top 20.

Based on the analysis collected from March 27 to April 27, the ranking is established through community awareness, media coverage, consumer interaction, and the participation of artists.

Lim Young Woong Surpasses Kim Soo Hyun in April 2024 Star Brand Reputation Ranking

Trot singer Lim Young Woong continued to secure the top spot after garnering a 12.15% increase in brand reputation index as compared to the previous ranking, where he garnered a total of 7,211,911.

Coming in at second place is the girl group ILLIT, which previously ranked third.

Interestingly, Kim Soo Hyun lands at third with a 36.28% increase from the previous Star Brand Reputation Ranking.

To recall, the South Korean heartthrob ranked 8th in the March ranking, which is also the premiere month of the hit series "Queen of Tears."

Speaking of the tvN rom-com Kim Soo Hyun's co-star, Kim Ji Won ranked 11th, jumping only 1 notch from the previous ranking where she landed at 12th place.

'Queen of Tears' Ends 'Crash Landing on You' Reign in Viewership Record

Since its debut on March 9, "Queen of Tears" stole the hearts of K-drama fans with its fun and entertaining story of the couple Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In, played by Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won.

Not only that, viewers were also delighted to see the on-screen chemistry of the lead stars as they take on interesting characters in the tvN rom-com series.

From garnering its first double-digit rating during the first episode to reigning in the most buzzworthy drama and actor rankings for weeks, "Queen of Tears" managed to surpass the achievement of the hit K-drama "Crash Landing on You."

According to reports, the drama finale garnered a whopping 24.9 percent viewership rating, making it the highest viewership throughout the season run.

With this, "Queen of Tears" outshines the record scored by "Crash Landing on You" during its finale episode by hitting the 21.7 percent mark.

Adding to the list of the rom-com's achievements, Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won's drama topped Netflix's Global TOP10 Non-English from March 25 to 31, with a total viewership of 93.8 million hours.
