'Frankly Speaking' Creates Buzz Due To Go Kyung Pyo's Hilarious Acting
JTBC's weekday series "Frankly Speaking" officially premiered on May 1. Starring Go Kyung Pyo, Kang Han Na, and Joo Jung Hyuk, the drama already made an impression on the audience.
Adding to the ongoing rom-com genre series, "Frankly Speaking" follows the story of a news reporter Song Ki Baek, who is determined to get his desired position as the network's news anchor, and a reality show writer On Woo Joo, who is on the verge of losing her segment due to poor ratings.
Go Kyung Pyo takes the role of Song Ki Baek, an announcer at Ultra FM, where he displayed his dynamic acting skills. Not everyone knows that ahead of the drama's premiere, the actor already promised to bring his best comic acting to the project, and he delivered.
In the almost an hour-long episode, the lead actor's presence is felt through his unparalleled comedic timing and constantly changing expression. Due to this, viewers reacted to his acting after the pilot week episodes were released.
People started commenting "Go Kyung Pyo really going all out, isn't he?" "Is he retiring after this?" "That's how he uses his face?" and more comments kept coming.
Go Kyung Pyo Becomes Living Meme With His Comedic Acting
Given his current role, it is no surprise that Go Kyung Pyo's facial expressions have become meme material. From his laugh-crying face, while trying to stop his colleague's husband from revealing the affair on national television to the bathroom mishap scene, where he's trapped in an elevator with On Woo Joo, to his head twisting as he confronted the arrogant idol P.N.- number of memes on his face made viewers burst into laughter.
During "Frankly Speaking" episode 2, Song Ki Baek's sulking tongue persona emerged, as his ferocious honesty led to hilarious scenes. Within just a split of minutes, Go Kyung Pyo's facial expression shifted through a myriad of emotions.
As the story progresses, the production team gives a sneak peek of what to look forward to in the upcoming episode.
According to them, "In episode 3, viewers will understand why Song Ki Baek is self-conscious and why he is obsessed with appearing perfect in front of his colleagues. His new persona, who is very straightforward and speaks frankly to people, will intensify, and Go Kyung Pyo's comedic acting will reach its peak."
