Jang Ki Yong Offered to Lead New Webtoon-Based Drama Penned by ‘Sweet Home’ Writer

Project offers are pouring in for Jang Ki Yong! The top actor just received a new casting deal to headline an upcoming drama adaptation of a webtoon novel.

Jang Ki Yong To Possibly Headline Webtoon-Based K-Drama 'Pig Pen'

Jang Ki Yong is currently leading JTBC's fantasy-romance series "The Atypical Family," alongside Chun Woo Hee. As of writing, the drama continues to attract viewers for its unique and intriguing narrative.

While the series is ongoing, the actor is already receiving screen project offers. Among them is to potentially headline the webtoon-based drama "Pig Pen."

Based on a news cited by a media outlet on May 24, the male star will appear in the series. In relation to this, an official from the actor's label stated that Jang Ki Yong has received an offer for "Pig Pen" and is currently reviewing it.

"Pig Pen" is from the Naver webtoon "Pigsty," which tells the story of a man who is stranded on a deserted island and discovers an old-fashioned mansion with an unidentified family that appears before him.

The drama adaptation is expected to be helmed by director Kim Sang Man, and the script will be penned by "Sweet Home" writer Kim Kan Bee.

In addition, rising actress Noh Jeong Ui and veteran actor Cha Seung Won are also in discussion to join the cast of the series. The forthcoming adaptation is also in talks to be released on OTT platforms.

Furthermore, other details and scheduled production of the project are yet to be announced by the drama's team.

If Jang Ki Yong accepts the offer, "Pig Pen" will mark his second drama following "The Atypical Family" after his military discharge.

"Now, We Are Breaking Up" marked Jang Ki Yong's last series before he enlisted in the military in 2021. This 2024, he reunited with the fans and viewers as he gave delight to his first small screen work "The Atypical Family."

The award-winning actor welcomed the audience with a new mature role as he debuted as a father in his ongoing series. He plays Bok Gwi Ju, a man who struggles to gain his superpower due to a modern-day disease. He is the father of Bok Ina.

Fresh from the viewers' eyes, Jang Ki Yong took the challenge to build a new interesting character, adding to his acting portfolio. As he began accepting more complex roles, viewers were looking forward to his future projects and excited to watch his acting evolve.
