Lee Jung Jae revealed the process that he went through to get the role of Jedi Master Sol in the Star Wars series "The Acolyte."
One of the most renowned South Korean stars, the 51-year-old veteran actor is making a name for himself in Hollywood through his first international project.
Following the hit Netflix series "Squid Game," Lee Jung Jae is set to take the international scene by storm as he joins Dafne Keen, Carrie-Anne Moss, Amandla Stenberg, Jecki Lon, Jodie Turner-Smith, and more in "The Acolyte" cast lineup.
In an interview, the top star dishes on his experience before officially joining the much-awaited sequel as one of the cast members.
How Lee Jung Jae Bagged the Role of Master Sol in 'Star Wars: The Acolyte'
According to "The Acolyte" director Leslie Headland, the first time he saw Lee Jung Jae was in "Squid Game," and thought that he was a perfect match for the role of Master Sol.
"I watched 'Squid Game' when I was working on the character of 'Master Sol'. As soon as I saw actor Lee Jung-jae, I immediately thought he was Sol."
The South Korean superstar flew to London and auditioned in front of 30 production crew members,
"I came out after doing the audition, and there were three more candidates in total, including actors who were famous."
The award-winning actor added that he was particularly impressed by the audition set, and said that it allowed him to fully immerse himself in his character.

Before getting his own lightsaber, Lee Jung Jae underwent rigorous training. He said that he dedicated days and nights preparing for his role.
The South Korean top star also shared that he exercised a lot because Master Sol was good at martial arts, and to perfectly portray it, he had to improve his combat skills.
"Even on days when I wasn't filming, I exercised twice a day. I trained in martial arts with the actors and stunt team in the morning, and then did weight training in the afternoon."
Star Wars' "The Acolyte" is Lee Jung Jae's Hollywood debut. It is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, airing its first two episodes. As for the succeeding episodes, they will be released weekly.
'Squid Game' Season 2 Details
Meanwhile, viewers will get to see Lee Jung Jae reprise his role in "Squid Game." Returning as Seong Gi Hoon, Lee Jung Jae re-joins a mix of returning and new cast members of "Squid Game" Season 2.
Slated to air in the second half of 2024, the Netflix series also features the comeback of Lee Byung Hun, who played the role of game master Hwang In Ho, and his brother, Hwang Jun Ho, played by Wi Ha Joon.
Adding to the list of returning cast members is Gong Yoo, who played the role of a mysterious salesman.
As for the new cast members, Im Siwan, Park Gyu Young, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, T.O.P, Lee Jin Wook, and more will be joining the much-awaited sequel.
