Popular K-drama actor Ji Seung Hyun has revealed that his acting career had had him living on the brink despite his public recognition.
The rising star was one of the guests on a recent episode of Shin Dong Yup's YouTube show " Donor Hyeong" when he disclosed his experiences.
The 38-year-old has been acting since 2009 and is best known for his parts in hit dramas and movies. He revealed that only five years ago, he barely made $3,000 a year from acting, far from what most people think.
Ji explained that even though he'd already starred in Descendants of the Sun and people had thought his life was going well at the time, it wasn't so.
If anything, at that time, his financial struggles were so severe that the actor and his spouse had been looking into opening their Korean snack shop.
Ji explained, "It has been less than five years that I'm making as much as an office job worker." To survive, the young man had to get another job. His relative gave him a part-time job as a cook in their restaurant, the only way for Ji to provide for his wife and child.
However, when his baby was born, Ji had to ask his parents and parents-in-law to lend him the money to prepare for the essential goods. In line with this, the actor admitted that surviving in the entertainment industry takes more than hard work, as even well-known and experienced personalities struggle.
