"I passed the first stage of YTN's announcer exams," admitted Ji.

"I even bought books to prepare for the written exam in case my father came to check on me," he added.

Given that both of his parents are educators and his father is a physical education teacher with a 10th-degree black belt in judo, it seems understandable that their son's decision to become an actor came as a shock to them.

In fact, when he was in high school, Ji considered dropping out with an intention to study arts or acting.

"My father was upset because I was doing so well academically," Ji explained, "He didn't beat me, but spanked me a few times. He wanted me to go on with my education."

Despite the situation in the family that led Ji to comply with his father's expectations and not pursue an acting career, Ji continued to succeed in studying.

He earned a full scholarship to Kyung Hee University, where he majored in English literature.

The aspiring actor also obtained teaching internships and spent much time abroad, with a four-year study in Canada to learn the language.

Nevertheless, his passion for acting never died.

"With the money my father gave me to pay for announcer school, I secretly attended acting classes," Ji shared.

During the show, he also shared some fun facts about his co-star, Jang Nara.

"She's always so professional, but after intense scenes, she'd joke around and blame my character," Ji said.

The star surprises and delights fans with acting success and academic excellence.
