7 Korean Actresses Who Married Real-Life Chaebols

While acting provides a solid income, some actresses in South Korea have taken it a step further by marrying into some of the wealthiest families.

Jeon Ji Hyun

Jeon Ji Hyun, known for her role in Kingdom, married someone she met in elementary school. Her husband, Choi Joon Hyuk, is the grandson of the famous Hanbok designer Lee Young Hee and comes from a very wealthy family.

Although they attended the same school and lived in the same neighborhood, they weren't close until they reconnected years later. In December 2011, it was announced that they were dating.

Joon Hyuk's assets are estimated to be around $295 million, making him quite affluent. Their relationship blossomed after Ji Hyun cared for him when he was unwell.

Just a year after their dating announcement, they got married in a lavish ceremony at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, attended by numerous stars. It was a fantastic day, and the bride, who had a tiara worth about $7.9 million on her head, was especially beautiful.

Lee Hae Young

Lee Hae Young, already wealthy from her successful acting career, further enhanced her fortune by marrying Boo Ji Hoon, co-founder of MBK Partners, one of Asia's largest financial service companies with an estimated capital of around 27 trillion won (approximately $23 billion).

After her divorce from rapper Lee Sang Min in 2005, Lee Hae Young began dating Boo Ji Hoon, and they married in 2011 in a private ceremony in Hawaii. Although she isn't very active in entertainment anymore, they seem to be enjoying a happy life together

Han Chae Young  

Actress and singer Han Chae Young surprised many when she married Choi Dong Joon, CEO of KakaoTalk, in 2019.Previously the company's vice president, he now earns about $638 million annually, plus bonuses.

They met through a podcast and were rumored to be dating since 2017. In March 2019, they had a private wedding attended only by family and friends.

Kim Hee Sun

In 2007, Kim Hee Sun married Park Ju Young, the second son of the president of the Larson Group, which operates construction and film production companies.Park Ju Young also owns a spa in Seoul. The family's revenue was estimated at around $11 million in 2022.

They met at an event and quickly fell in love.Their wedding took place at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul. Afterward, Kim Hee Sun took a six-year break from acting to focus on her family. Interestingly, Ju Young prefers her not to do romantic dramas, but they have managed to find a balance.

Lee Si Young

Lee Si Young gained fame for her role in Sweet Home and surprised fans when she married businessman Cho Seong Hyun. Although he isn't a celebrity, he is known as a wealthy CEO with a restaurant franchise and other businesses, earning about $2.2 million annually.

They began dating in August 2016 and announced their marriage a year later via Instagram. The announcement caught many off guard, especially since her agency had denied marriage rumors previously. She revealed she was 14 weeks pregnant at the time. They held their wedding at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul. Their first child was born in 2018.

Han Chae Young  

Han Chae Young also made headlines when she married Choi Dong Joon in 2007. He comes from an exceptionally wealthy family, often called the "royal family" of finance. His proposal was valued at $6 million, and her wedding ring could likely purchase a home in Gangnam. He also gifted her sports cars worth around $20 million. They had their wedding at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Their son was born in 2013.

Kim Hee Ae

Veteran actress Kim Hee Ae married Lee Chan Jin in 1997. At the time, he was one of the wealthiest individuals in South Korea, known for owning DreamWiz, an internet company, and later founding a software firm called Hong Kong.

Often referred to as the "Bill Gates of South Korea," he has also served in the National Assembly for six months before resigning. The couple has two children and maintains a private relationship.
