Gureum's agency made an announcement on October 4, that it would take legal actions against Baek Ye Rin's company, People Like People Co., Ltd. (PLP) : "This is not simply a matter of unauthorized use of copyrighted material. We are in a situation where we must take appropriate action," it said.

Gureum was a member of The Volunteers, where he played a significant role in the production and composition of many songs.

Despite the termination of his exclusive contract with Blue Vinyl on February 28, Gureum's agency claims PLP attempted to secure a waiver to use unreleased songs without proper permission as he departed from the group. After consulting with Gureum, the agency rejected PLP's request.

According to reports, Gureum's representatives had repeatedly requested that PLP refrain from using said songs since June 10. This request was first agreed to to the knowledge of Gureum's agency.

However, the agency claimed that PLP had performed the songs without permission at several events, including the Asia Pop Festival.Additionally, Gureum's agency added that no personal equipment was returned for PLP's music videos.

As such, to protect their artist's rights, Gureum's agency announced their intention to proceed with legal action. They also mentioned that false information and personal attacks against Gureum have been circulating online.

As such, they pledged to take strong legal measures against those responsible for malicious comments."I hope that our actions will help create a better industry for you, full of talented individuals who can be confident that they own their own music.

I am working hard to ensure that not only Gureum but many other artists can continue to make good music," said Gureum's agency.
