2024 has been flooded with K-Dramas, but not all are hits among either fans or critics. The explicitness and predictability of these five series contributed to them being some of the most disappointing K-Dramas this year, and so many fans ended up let down.

Queen Woo

Queen Woo, TVING's first historical K-drama about a widowed queen who must fight to maintain her throne, captivated viewers with its alluring plot.

Instead, the series has become known for over-the-top explicit content that many considered detracted from the story rather than adding to it.

TENASIA described the show's early episodes as "all sex and boobs," which led to mixed reactions from fans.

Serendipity Embrace

On the romance front, Serendipity Embrace, starring Chae Jong Hyeop and Kim So Hyun, debuted with considerable anticipation.

Despite its star-studded cast, the series faced low viewership and was labeled bland and predictable by both critics and viewers.

Its Tommy rating was blamed by some for being in the Olympic Games time slot but others laid the blame with a regurgitated storyline that had failed to captivate.

Love Next Door

Meanwhile, Love Next Door initially won fans over with its light-hearted story about neighbors rediscovering their childhood bond.

However, a sudden plot twist involving a cancer diagnosis for the main character, played by Jung So Min, proved too close for comfort, cutting off some viewers after only a few episodes.

Marry My Husband

Marry My Husband, a TVN production, faced controversies that extended beyond the screen.

Fans criticized the show for diverging from the source material and for including what some viewed as an Islamophobic storyline.

BoA's performance and the character styling also drew criticism, with viewers expressing disappointment over the adaptation.

Hierarchy

Netflix's Hierarchy aimed to replicate the intense, revenge-driven narratives seen in hit dramas like The Glory.

Yet, despite its promising setup, the show was criticized for one-dimensional characters and a predictable storyline that failed to live up to fans' expectations.
