Song Joong Ki recently shared some insight into his wife's family, and this marks the first time that he has revealed his mother-in-law is Colombian.

The announcement was made in a press meeting right after the preview of his soon-to-be-released film Bogota: City of the Lost in Gangnam on December 19.

Asked if he had any worries that his film would further reinforce the notion that Bogota was a dangerous place stewing in crime, Song said he had his own feelings about Colombia.

"My mother-in-law is Colombiano. It is a warm country with a lot of energy, and many of my wife's family live there," he stated.

In 2023, Song Joong-ki married former British actress Katy Louise Saunders, who also took his name, and added he was proud of his wife's family background.

They became parents for the first time in January with a son and now have a daughter.

"The Colombia I experienced is full of energy, warmth, and amazing food—it's absolutely delicious," he said.

"I've also seen the efforts of people trying to change outdated perceptions about the country."

Coming out on December 31 is "Bogota: City of the Lost" from Kim Seong-je's direction.The movie follows immigrants trying to survive among the city's more perilous sectors.

Song Joong Ki is trending everywhere for the candid remarks he made about his Colombian heritage as everyone eagerly awaits the film's release.
