Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming has been accused of "faking" a breakup with his pregnant girlfriend, social media influencer Ye Ke, in order to 'trick' fans.
Later on December 22, reports emerged that the couple might still be together, despite his previous claim that they had split.
Kbizoom reported that Ye Ke was seen with a visible baby bump in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on December 21, according to Chinese media QQ.
Since December 8, Huang has been in Fujian to shoot for his new movie, provisionally called City Builder.
The couple was reportedly spotted with each other at a local high-end hotel, according to eyewitnesses.
Ye Ke remained upbeat and wore luxury brands for the first time during the breakup rumors.
She was suspected to have even made an "OK" sign when she spotted someone recording her, which added even further suspicion to the status of their relationship.
The netizens doubt that Huang broke up with Ye Ke, even after the breakup claims, which happened in late November.
This has led many to speculate that the couple faked their separation as a way of quelling the backlash Huang has received over Ye Ke's slew of scandals in recent months.
In September of 2024, Huang confirmed that he was dating Ye Ke. Then, she has seen herself in scandals similar to infidelity allegations and financial failure.
Such controversies had a negative impact on Huang's reputation, and he had to issue a public apology.
The controversy surrounding Huang is said to have affected his new film, The Wig, which was refunded 10,000 tickets and removed from theaters within nine days of its release due to low sales.
Huang reportedly deleted Ye Ke's posts from his Weibo account on November 28, sparking speculation that they had broken up.
Entertainment sources claimed, however, that the pair had already moved on by November 30.
But then they were spotted together again, and all that was put into question.
Fans are still unsure about the couple's status as scrutiny continues to increase.
