Ye Ke, the girlfriend of popular Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming, has responded to allegations that she demanded a $37 million breakup fee amid rumors about their relationship.
The couple has been in the news this month amid claims that when Huang wanted to end their relationship quietly, the amount Ye Ke sought in return was around 270 million yuan.
Those speculations intensified earlier this year when Huang, one of China's highest-paid actors, confirmed their relationship.
Huang was previously married to the actress Angelababy, but he started dating Ye Ke just after his divorce was settled. The couple has been together for more than one year.
However, reports of a possible breakup have raised eyebrows among fans and media alike.
In her response to the allegations, Ye denied that she ever requested any money from Huang in order for them to part ways on amicable terms.
She previously said she did not engage in infidelity with her former husband and rejected claims she went to a 'Trophy Wife Training Camp' — a fictional program alleged to assist women in securing rich husbands.
Ye Ke wrote in a post on Weibo: "I request the media not to falsely report about me. I will be taking a break from social media for the sake of my health and my family."
Huang, 34, was pictured together with the social media star, 29, who is pregnant, as they went to a prenatal on November 9.
Huang Xiaoming has not publicly commented on the allegations made against them.
