KBS Joy's "Sorry Not Sorry" tells the story of Ji Song Yi (Jeon So Min), a fake housewife who has to live life the best she can after a sudden breakup.

She works several jobs as she pays off an astronomical loan on the house she used to share with her husband, a storyline that mixes the genres of urban struggle and romance.

According to WikiTree, the series has also been noticed for its cheap production budget of around 140 million won (approx. 5,570 USD) per episode, making it around 1.7 billion won (approx. 67K USD) for the 12-episode series run.

Network reps say production costs are well below those of rival dramas.

Even though the drama stars heavyweights such as Choi Daniel and Jeon So Min, who boast big fan bases in Japan and Southeast Asia, respectively, it simply has not gained traction.

The general news goes that roughly half of the cost has been recouped by the production team through overseas sales.

The January 23 episode featured Ji Song (popularly known as the love guru) and the complexities of his love life.

In this episode, she got clobbered by her emotional bond with divorce attorney Cha Hyun Woo (Choi Daniel) and Hyun Woo's traumatic history.

Jeon has high hopes for the project, noting during a recent press conference that it would give viewers who are familiar with her variety show persona the opportunity to see her acting chops. But the low ratings have put a damper on her ambitions.

The KBS official cited, "With the drama market hitting a slump in terms of profitability, it is more pressing than ever to come up with new ideas on how to produce quality content at lower expenses as a whole."

It comes as the network is hoping to refresh Hallyu fare as production costs climb.

"Sorry Not Sorry" airs every Thursday at 9 PM (KST) on KBS Joy, and there are five episodes left in the show's 12-episode run.
