IU and Byeon Woo Seok have refuted rumors that they are dropping out the 21st Century Prince's Wife, an upcoming K-Drama, due to differences in its broadcasting platform.

As per a report from TV Daily, the actors reportedly wanted to exit as they had different thoughts about the distribution of the drama.
The report noted that MBC, the production company, was negotiating distribution with Disney+ but that the actors preferred distribution via Netflix.
"MBC originally scheduled the drama to air during the first half of 2025 — however, they have now pushed back the release to a vague 2025 window," one insider was quoted as saying by TV Daily.
Soon after the speculated reports, both IU's and Byeon Woo Seok's agencies denied the claims.
"Byeon Woo Seok is NOT leaving the K-Drama. He will be there as planned," the actor's agency, Varo Entertainment, said in a statement as per Sports Donga.

IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, also denied the report, saying, "The reports of IU leaving the K-Drama are not true. She's getting ready for it."
The production company and streaming services are allegedly still in discussions, though industry gossip is rife despite the denials.
The 21st Century Prince's Wife was first announced in December 2024, and IU and Byeon Woo Seok were announced to lead the cast.
As of yet, MBC has not responded regarding the reported disagreements over the drama's distribution. Both actors are still attached to the project as it moves towards release.
