South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron has died in what police believe was a suicide - the star was best known for films and dramas. On Sunday afternoon she was found dead at her home in Seoul.

As per Koreaboo, the National Police Agency said in a news conference Monday it would handle the case as suicide, adding no traces of foreign intrusion or crime were found at the spot. Authorities also stated that a will was not located.

Having first gained recognition as a child actress, Kim Sae Ron, 24, has since resonated with the audience as high-profile roles came her way throughout her career. Her sudden passing has left fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry in shock.

"We believe that Kim Sae Ron made an extreme choice," an official from the National Investigation Headquarters said. "Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time."

According to Chosun Biz, multiple social media keystrokes of condolence statements from her former agency and fellow celebrities followed in the wake of the news. Tributes reflecting on Kim as a dedicated artist and a gifted actress have been shared by film directors and actors who worked with her closely.

Actress Kim Ok Vin posted a photo of chrysanthemums on her social media account and said, "I pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased." While she did not directly refer to Kim Sae Ron, her post came a day after Kim Sae Ron was on the news.

Filmmaker Kim Min Che, who previously collaborated with Kim Sae Ron in the movie "The Neighbors," also shared messages of condolence. He shared a screenshot from the film and captioned it: "It was such a joy to meet her as my daughter in the film. I hope she is resting well up there."

Yel, a former member of Fiestar, uploaded a photo of dandelion seeds and said: "So sad. We still a few times, but you seem a loyal and kind friend anyway."

Actress Yoo Ah Ra of Hello Venus fame apologized for not giving Kim Sae-ron warm words earlier and asked that people remember and pray for her.

Seo Ye Ji and Seo Ha Joon also honored the late star by uploading photos of chrysanthemums.

Gold Medalist Kim Sae Ron's former agency only issued a short message of condolence that said, "We pray that the deceased's soul rest in peace."
The actress had her fair share of troubles in life.

The famed actress entered the entertainment industry as a model in 2001, and she debuted as an actress in 2009 when she appeared in "The Traveler." A career highlight came when she became the youngest Korean actress to walk the red carpet at Cannes.

But in 2022, her drunk driving accident did tarnish her career. She re-emerged nine months later and was slated to provide voiceovers for four projects when she announced another withdrawal after one week, saying she was suffering health problems.

The funeral for Kim Sae Ron will be on Wednesday at the Seoul Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall. Her death has rekindled debate on the effect of online cyberbullying and spiteful comments.
