Actor Park Sung Hoon is in talks to headline a new romance K-drama, months after receiving backlash for a social media post about his role in Netflix's Squid Game 2.

According to Newsen, Park is reportedly in talks to lead Efficient Dating for Singles (literal title), a drama based on a webtoon that tells of modern courtships in which love comes with practicality.

Another of Park's labelmates, actress Han Ji Min, is also considering an offer for the project.
However, casting will be left uncertain as Park is not the first pick for that character.

In a media statement regarding the speculation, his agency, BH Entertainment, shared, "We realize there is an actor the producers are prioritizing higher [than Park Sung Hoon] to the Efficient Dating for Singles (mediated) matchmaking. We are awaiting a response."

Park's career has come under scrutiny after an Instagram post in which he shared an image from a Japanese adult film parody of Squid Game.
The post was met with intense backlash, and as a result, he was dropped from tvN's upcoming K-drama The Tyrant's Chef, which stars Girls' Generation's Yoona.
He later explained in a tearful interview with the media that the controversy, old or new, affected his career.
Despite the rumor mill going berserk, experts say Efficient Dating for Singles would be a potential redemption project for Park if he lands the gig.

However, whether those producers and audiences are ready to welcome him back to the small screen is another question.
No confirmation has been made that Park Sung Hoon and Han Ji Min are to star in the drama, with other casting decisions likely to follow in the coming weeks.
