Actor Lee Dong Wook came under fire from fellow entertainer JK Kim Dong Wook this week after voicing his support for the impeachment of former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Following the Constitutional Court's decision to impeach Yoon on April 4, Lee was among the first Korean celebrities to comment on the ruling.
Through his messaging on the fan platform Bubble, the actor appeared to support the court's decision, prompting backlash from singer JK Kim Dong Wook.

JK Kim Dong Wook, a Korean Canadian singer known for his K-drama soundtracks, responded via Instagram by criticizing the actor's political stance.
"What does he know [about politics]?" the singer wrote, sharing a screenshot of Lee's Bubble messages posted by a netizen.
He also mocked the actor's name, stating, "Dong Wook is a common name, but he's the first person to ever make me feel embarrassed to be sharing it with."
JK Kim Dong Wook continued to express concern over South Korea's future following Yoon's impeachment.
"Whenever I saw videos saying that South Korea would collapse by 2060, I kept thinking, 'No way, no way,' but this soon?" he wrote. "I used to tell myself,

'Things will change by then,' clinging to a bit of hopeful optimism. Now, I don't know anymore. I'm increasingly convinced that the country might collapse even faster than the world expects."
The singer's comments sparked significant backlash online, with many Korean netizens criticizing the perceived pettiness of the attack and questioning his relevance.
"So what if they have the same name...?
Does Lee Dong Wook even know who Kim Dong Wook is?
He's not even that relevant.
Someone's full of himself," one user commented on a popular online forum.
Others were more direct. "Lee Dong Wook should be the one embarrassed... And isn't JK Kim Dong Wook not Korean?
Why is he running his mouth so much?" another wrote.

This is not the first time JK Kim Dong Wook has faced criticism for expressing strong political opinions.
He has previously voiced unwavering support for Yoon, despite the former president's impeachment for "violating the basic ideology of a democracy," according to Chief Justice Moon Hyung Bae.
