Chinese actor Liu Yi Chang has issued a public apology after falsely accusing fellow actor Hong Yao of cheating on his wife, actress Wu Jin Yan, with Liu's girlfriend, actress Daisy Li.

The accusation was made in a now-deleted post on Weibo, where Liu appeared to call out Hong without providing full context.
"Mr. Hong, you should be honest now that you are married. Don't date random people," Liu wrote.

The post quickly gained attention online, with netizens speculating that the "random person" Liu referred to was Daisy Li, also known as Li Mu Chen. Li, however, denied the claim and clarified the situation in a statement.
"After the recording of a variety show on the evening of March 31, around 2 a.m., Mr. Hong Yao sent me a message asking if I wanted to get together for Mr. Zhang Dan Feng's birthday, and he told me that there were other people at the scene, so I went," she explained.
"In fact, in addition to us, there were indeed dozens of other artistes present that night."
Li emphasized that the gathering was not a date, but a group celebration, and noted that Hong's invitation was not inappropriate.

Following Li's clarification, Liu retracted his statement and publicly apologized to Hong.

"I'm sorry, brother," Liu wrote. "I went crazy. I didn't understand it clearly before I went crazy."
Hong Yao, best known for his role in Demon Girl, married Story of Yanxi Palace actress Wu Jin Yan in the fall of 2024. Liu stars in the upcoming 2025 romance drama Starlight to You.
Representatives for all parties have not announced any further comment regarding the incident.
