Actor Yoo Yeon Suk may be one of the most loved celebrities after his portrayal of the charming baseball player Chil Bong in the drama "Reply 1994", but there was a time when he was hated on because of his characters.
During his guest appearance on the program "Taxi", Yoo Yeon Suk looked back on his poor public image after portraying several antagonists. He shared, "It's not like I only took on roles of antagonists, but since those are the movies that did well in theatres, the viewers remember those characters distinctly."
He portrayed evil characters in the movies "Werewolf Boy", "Hwai", and "Introduction To Architecture" before being cast in "Gu Family Book" and "Reply 1994", dramas that changed his image immensely.
"The response from women were dangerous after the movie 'Architecture'," he explained. "In the movie, I only portrayed a senior who took her home when she got drunk, but because it served as a conflict in the story and there was no follow up scene after that, viewers had a different interpretation for what happened."
Meanwhile, he also talked about his family during the program, "My father is a professor and my mother is a painter. While I didn't do badly on my studies, my older brother really excelled. Maybe it's because I'm the youngest but there was less pressure on me so I was able to do as I pleased."
