"You Who Came from The Stars" is Jun Ji Hyun's first drama since she appeared in "Happy Together" in 1999. That's not to say she hasn't been working hard. She has done almost a film a year since then.
The actress was considering another movie role when she was offered the lead in "You Who Came From The Stars" and at first rejected it. Her co-star in the film "The Thieves" talked her into taking the drama role.
While her small-screen role as the pampered actress Chun Song Yi has turned out to be a ratings winner, Jun Ji Hyun's next role is likely to be in a film.
The next film she is considering, "Assassin," has been described as a caper film about killers set in 1930s Shanghai.
Her agency, Cultural Depot Entertainment Co., says that she is currently too busy to make a final decision.
"It is true that the actress received the script but she is totally focused on 'You Who Came From The Stars' at the moment," said a representative from her agency. "She has not had the time to finalize her decision. She is reading the script now but won't make a decision until the drama ends."
If she does decide to take the role, it will provide another chance to work with both a director and an actor that she has successfully collaborated with in the past.
Choi Dong Hoon, who directed the 2012 film "The Thieves" is the director and the film has already been described as "the second Thieves."
Actor Ha Jung Woo has also been courted for the film. He co-starred with Jun Ji Hyun in her most recent film "The Berlin File." The new film offers them a chance to revive their successful acting partnership.
Ha Jung Woo's agency Fantasio has said that he is in the process of positively reviewing the role.
Another actor considering a role in the film is Lee Jung Jae, who is currently filming "Big Match."
Choi Dong Hoon had both Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Jung Jae in mind when he wrote the film and is doing his best to woo them.
His agency, C-JeS Entertainment also was not ready to make a commitment.
"We received the script and are considering whether he should act in it or not," said an agency representative. "We are viewing it favorably."
Filming is due to start in the fall.
