What's new in 2014 is not just Galaxy S5 or Xperia Z2... An interesting event coming up this April is the first art exhibit by the U.S. 43rd President, George W. Bush!
"The exhibit called "The Art of Leadership: A President's Personal Diplomacy", will be open by early April at the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas. The exhibit will feature more than two dozen never-before-exhibited portraits painted by President Bush," said the library in the Tuesday announcement.
However, it will not feature the bathroom sketches leaked last year on web by Guccifer. The exhibits - ranging from portraits, artifacts, photographs and personal reflections - will demonstrate Bush's "relationships formed on the world stage" in order to advance American interests overseas.
Bush has been pursuing painting as a hobby since he left office in 2009. And he had surprised Jay Leno and the audience in "The Tonight Show" when he said, "I am a painter. I do take painting seriously, it's changed my life, and I have got something for you." It was a signature portrait of Jay Leno - that amazed the whole audience!
His most common paintings are landscapes and dogs, to which he says, he loves to paint people's pets and gift them the painting. Though few critics & painters have criticized his paintings, some have also spoken encouraging words.
An art critic quoted that "the haste in which these pictures appear to have been completed reveal an artist who wants to finish what he starts, pleased with delivering something good and pleasant instead of great and overwhelming. This is the kind of artist who will never make a masterpiece but will remain a favorite with his core audience."
While many criticize the President's painting being naïve and lacking conceptual depths or skills, many have positively encouraged his painting expressing love, charm, and enjoyment. Few are even suggesting that, now the President finds joy & solace in painting, he should be promoting various art programs going forward.
