Upcoming Sony phones 2014 will include some of those featured at the MWC 2014 and a new one perhaps by the end of the year.

Sony was initially Sony Erisson Mobile, and is a segment of Sony Corporation. Initially, the fast selling Xperia models began on the Windows Mobile OS platform, afterwhich it shifted to Android. The Xperia line of phones have been strong competitors against Samsung's smartphones. The Xperia brand is just as popular as the Samsung Galaxy and has a top notch line up of smartphones, according to gadgets.ndtv.com.

You may not have guessed it but the Sony Z1S unveiled in February is supposedly the best waterproof smartphone on the market. And that' s before Samsung announced that the S5 is water proof but not water resistant at the MWC 2014, meaning it might not survive a dunk in the swimming pool but perhaps just a song or two in the shower should be just fine.

First impressions of the Sony Xperia Z2 released at the MWC 2014 reveal these specs: Snapdragon 801 CPU; 5.25-inch 1080p screen; Android 4.4. The Android 4.4 is a coveted OS, making the Z2 seamless and smooth in its operations.

The Z2 is the flagship phone for Sony and it has all the heavy features sported by other Sony phones. This will help the Z2 compete with the Samsung S5 and the HTC One 2,reports trustedreviews.com

Just a week after the MWC 2014, where the Sony Z2 was launched, Sony has plans to release another flagship by the end of the year, gadgets.ndtv reports.

Media reports confirm, Yoshiro Kurozumi, "Sony Mobile's Creative Director, Director of Product Planning and UX General Manager, has discussed why the Japanese firm needs to upgrade its products after every six months."

Kurozumi told reporters that in order to 'retain the 'flagship' title for a product, one must keep upgrading it, and prove to be a strong rival against other leaders in the market.'

He added that the Z2 was the 'flagship' for the first half of 2014, and signaled that a second flagship would be unveiled with a different design.

Analysts speculate that the new smartphone will be dubbed 'Z3'.
