His appearance as a thug turned businessman in the drama "When A Man Loves" proved that few k-drama actors look better in a white shirt than Song Seung Hoon. And he did not look too shabby in the drama's shower scenes either. Now, the latest stills from the actor's upcoming film "Human Addiction" show that the actor can also look pretty impressive in a colonel's uniform.
But he says that the R-rated film will give him a chance to show off his abs. That will happen because his film character Colonel Kim Jin Pyeong gets involved in a scandalous and tragic affair with the wife of one of his officers. The film is set in 1969 as the Vietnam War draws to a close.
Col. Kim Jin Pyeong is a man who is respected by his junior officers for his bravery and leadership skills. But his career and the morale of his army base may be forever tarnished by his addictive affair.
Will he abuse his position to spend more time with the woman he loves? If he does so, his career could wind up in shambles. And what about his marriage? The addictive quality of an affair does create a lot of melodramatic potential.
Song Seung Hoon said that he was drawn to the film by its sensational plot and excellent writing. In an interview, he mentioned the 2003 film "Untold Scandal" a film written by Kim Dae Woo, who has written the screenplay for and will also direct "Human Addiction."
"It had the quality of 'Untold Scandal,' the intensity of 'Lust, Caution,' and the passion of 'In The Mood for Love,' all at the same time," said Song Seung Hoon. "The story and the character both appealed to me as an actor."
Director Kim Dae Woo is known for the provocative subject matter of his film. He wrote and directed the 2006 film "Forbidden Quest" winning "Best New Director" and "Best Screenplay" awards for his work. He was also the screenwriter on the drama "The Servant."
Jo Yeo Jung will play the role of Lee Sok Jin, the colonel's wife. Rookie actress Lim Ji Yeon plays the woman he falls hopelessly in love with. Jo Yeo Jung, who was last seen in the film "The Concubine" and the dramas "I Need Romance" and "Haeundae Lovers," previously worked with the director in the drama "The Servant."
Song Seung Hoon is best known for his roles in "East of Eden," "My Princess" and "Dr. Jin."
