"Game of Thrones" cast Peter Dinklage mesmerized viewers in Sunday's episode "The Laws of Gods and Men." His emotional speech during the trial even inspired a viral campaign under the hashtag #FreeTyrion.
The hashtag #FreeTyrion, which can be seen on the @GoT_Tyrion account, was already retweeted 298 times.
"Game of Thrones" cast Peter Dinklage's character Tyrion Lannister is on trial for King Joffrey's death but fans of the show knows that the sharp-witted Tyrion can outplay and outthink every single person in Westeros.
During his impassioned speech, which triggered the hashtag #FreeTyrion, he told his father Tywin that he wishes to confess.
"You admit you poisoned the king?" Tywin, who appeared surprised that Tyrion Lannister would give up so easily, said.
"No, of that I'm innocent. I'm guilty of a far more monstrous crime - I'm guilty of being a dwarf," he said.
The Wrap called the performance worthy of an Emmy. "Game of Thrones" cast Peter Dinklage already won the trophy in 2011 for Best Drama Supporting Actor and he was also nominated for three previous seasons of the HBO hit series.
Tyrion Lannister then ended his speech by asking for trial by combat, which proved to be successful once before in Eyrie, and Bronn came to his aid to kill Ser Vardes Egen.
George R. R. Martin's book, "Song of Fire and Ice" provides answers to what happens next and if the show will not veer away from the book, somebody will come forward to be Tyrion's champion in the trial by combat against The Mountain.
Somebody unexpected will come forward to be Tyrion Lannister's champion and it's going to be Prince Oberyn Martell, who has plenty of axe to grind against Gregor "The Mountain" Clane whom he blamed for the death of his sister and her children.
"Game of Thrones" airs on Sundays on HBO.
